Charcoal Plant Dye Cotton Fabric (Sizing Options)
Crafted using the traditional Chinese Miao plant and mud dye technique, this hand-dyed 100% cotton fabric is a beautiful reflection of indigenous craftsmanship. With a narrow width of 30 cm, it’s perfect for use as a table runner or for a variety of DIY projects, including bags, mug mats, dolls, curtains, and other home décor. Each piece is naturally dyed using Shugen plant roots, the same technique used for Gambiered Canton Silk, making this fabric eco-friendly, sustainable, and truly unique.
Because of the artisanal process, each fabric will vary slightly in color, texture, and pattern. This natural variation, along with occasional uneven dyes, small holes, or rough edges, highlights the authentic, handmade nature of this fabric. Due to the low color fastness, some fading or discoloration is inevitable over time, giving the fabric a beautifully aged look.
For best care, hand washing is recommended, avoiding long soaking, bleach, or mixing with light-colored fabrics. The fabric may carry a natural plant/mud scent, which will fade with washing. Each indigo fabric is a one-of-a-kind piece of art, hand-dyed by native artisans in Guizhou, China, bringing a touch of tradition and natural beauty to your creative projects.
