Seeing Ourselves in Color: Aura Photos with the Drishti House Team

Over Earth Day weekend, our team at Drishti House joined a vendor pop-up at The Lotus Boutique. It was the kind of warm, easy afternoon where you catch up with familiar faces, sip tea between mini-readings, smooth on essential oils, and wander through tables of local goods under soft music and late spring light.

That’s where we met Traci Akin of Hadobeing—a unique presence with bright eyes and a booth set up with something a little different: an aura photography camera.

Some of us had done aura photos before. Some hadn’t. But all of us were curious. We’d heard about how it works—a mix of biofeedback and subtle energy sensing, translated into color through electromagnetic hand plates and an old-school camera built in the 1980s. It sounded both mystical and a little bit like science fiction.

Naturally, we were in.

One by one, we sat in the chair, hands placed on the sensors, preparing our poses. Traci said we could close our eyes, smile, whatever we'd like. And then the photos came—each one a snapshot of something beneath the surface, yet simultaneously all around us: color, shape, energy. It was strange, surreal, and beautiful.

After we received the photos, Traci offered personalized readings for each of us—tuned in, clear, and on the nose. She picked up on patterns we hadn’t voiced, affirmations we didn’t know we needed, and deeper themes that stayed with us long after the prints were handed over.

So what is hado anyway?

In Japanese, hado means vibration. Dr. Masaru Emoto described it as the most basic unit of energy—what exists underneath everything we see. Hadobeing builds on that idea: we’re not just people with thoughts and feelings. We’re moving energy. We’re patterns, in flux.

Aura photography captures that—just for a moment. A energetic and electric reflection of what’s alive in us right now.

According to the general aura color guide (Traci gave us a helpful little card), each hue connects to one of the chakras:

Red: Root Chakra (Physical/Tangible) – New Beginnings, Power, Competition, Leadership, Action, Vitality, Strength, Grounding, Practicality, Adventurous, Survival Skills, Passion, Sensual, Intense, Desire for Success and Possessions.

To Balance: Pranayama or Deep Breathing, Yoga.

We’re all a blend, and colors shift as we change.
But there’s often a “home” frequency—one that feels most like us. That day, some of us glowed red and orange—powerful, phoenixes rising from the ashes. Others, deep blue or violet—introspective, calm. Some were unexpected, but somehow felt just right too.

If you’ve never done aura photography before, we definitely recommend checking out Traci and Hadobeing. She pops up at events all around Southern California and shares her upcoming dates on Instagram.

If you have had one taken before, let us know: what color(s) did you get? Or what most represents you right now?

Let's tune in. Notice what’s reverberating beneath the surface. Maybe it feels familiar, or it's something you don't expect. Let it come naturally...

What do you see?
